Owing to the lockdown in the nation’s capital, Palm Sunday was held quietly at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral Garki, in Abuja.

Palm Sunday is a Christian feast that falls on the Sunday preceding Easter. The feast is in commemoration of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical gospels.

President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a 14-day lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun to check the spread of coronavirus.

Ignatius Kaigama, a bishop, held a private mass on Sunday.
