The observations of former governor of Kaduna state Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar in the open letter he wrote to President Mohammadu Buhari has nothing new. This is the position of the governorship candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) in Imo State in the 2015 governorship election, Chief Brady Nwosu.

Umar had in his letter lampooned Buhari on his skewed appointments into the offices of the Federal Government, stressing that the action should bring ruin and destruction to the country.

He cautioned Buhari to stick to his statesman’s promise of belonging to all Nigerians rather than his present position of belonging to a particular section of the country, warning that the consequences of the president’s action would pose a great danger for future development and unity.

Noted Umar: “At this time and in the light of all that has happened since you took office, any conversation with you Mr. President cannot gloss over the chaos that has overtaken appointments into government offices in your administration. All those who wish you and the country well must mince no words in warning you that Nigeria has become dangerously polarized and risk sliding into crisis on account of your administration’s lopsided appointments which continues to give undue preference to some sections of the country over others.

“Mr. President, I regret that there are no kind or gentle words to tell you that your skewed appointments into the offices of the Federal Government, favouring some and frustrating others, shall bring ruin and destruction to this nation”.

But Nwosu in a media chat said Umar was not saying anything new as it had become obvious that the President had deeply divided the country with his actions and inactions rather than building it.

Nwosu said there was no need for the existence of Nigeria again given the wide-scale injustice that abounds, stressing that injustice in a justice system is the worst type of deceit that can no longer be tolerated.

He said the target by the Buhari leadership to destroy Ndigbo would not succeed as the people were ready to take their destiny in their hands and to fight again if pushed to the wall.

The politician said that Umar’s letter refused to address other key issues like restructuring, Igbo president in 2023, saying that with the harsh treatment meted out to the Igbo in the present administration “ they should allow Biafra to go their way”.

Said Nwosu: “Ndigbo cannot continue to tolerate what is on the ground today. We know that freedom does not come easy and cheap so we are ready to go our way with our Biafra republic”.
