The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Council (NEC), on Thursday dissolved the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
The NEC meeting, presided over by President Buhari, affirmed Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s emergence as the party’s Edo State governorship candidate and directed the immediate submission of his name to INEC in compliance with electoral guidelines.
Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad who made this known in a tweet on Thursday, stated that in a bid to stave off complications, the NEC also directed all party members and stakeholders alike to withdraw all court cases and commit to unification efforts meant to secure victory for the party at the polls.
Bashir said the decision was taken at the NEC meeting attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, embattled Deputy National Secretary of APC, Victor Giadom and some members of the APC National Working Committee.
He also confirmed that Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed as Caretaker Committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tweeted he: “Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved. The decision has just been taken at the ongoing party’s NEC meeting.
“Governor of Yobe State, H.E Mai Mala Buni has just been appointed as the chairman, caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
