Gunmen Invade Ibadan Police Station, Shoot Cpl Dead

An invasion of a police station at Ikolaba area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital, on Friday by gunmen has left a police corporal dead following gun shots. The deceased was among the officers on duty when the attackers struck.

Some other police officers were said to have sustained injuries in the incident which took the policemen by surprise.

Gbenga Fadyei, police public relations officer in the state, confirmed the incident but did not give details. He said policemen had been deployed in the area and normalcy had been restored.

It was not clear those who launched the attack but Fadeyi said investigation was ongoing.

The attack happened at a time efforts are being put in place to check the rising insecurity across the country.
