Late Chico Ejiro
Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Chief Tony Okoroji, has sent a message of condolence to all stakeholders in Nollywood and the entire Nigerian creative family on the passing on Christmas day of the gifted and prolific producer and director, Mr. Chico Ejiro.
Chief Okoroji who is on medical vacation in the United States, said that the news of the death of Chico Ejiro is devastating and took away what was left of the 2020 Christmas already diminished by the COVID 19 pandemic.
According to the former president of PMAN, “I have not met anyone who has worked with Chico who does not have something positive to say about him. He obviously touched the Nigerian movie industry and opened up the creative space in our country in a most fundamental manner.
Said Okoroji: “I recall playing host to Chico Ejiro at COSON House at the premier of Shan George’s ‘Grey Shadows’ which took place at the COSON House Arena. The premier gave me a chance to reconnect with some dear friends in the wider creative industry like the great Babara Soky whom I had not seen for many years, the gifted Hilda Dokubo and the very beautiful Lilian Bach. My good friend, Patrick Doyle was there and so were Emeka Ossai and the really articulate Judith Audu-Foght. Hon Nduli Elumelu was also there. How could I have known that it was the last time I would see Chico?’
“My condolences go to my good friend and Chico’s elder brother, Zeb, his dear wife, Joy and the entire Ejiro family. In reality, Chico is not really dead because the great body of work done by this extra-ordinary Nigerian, his work ethic that has inspired many and his warm personality continue to speak for him”.
