Two women who allegedly beat up a new wife at her husband’s resudence were on Friday arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.
Ruka Tayo, 38, and Abiola Jimoh, 35, are being docked on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit an offence and assault, offences which contravened the provisions of Sections 412 and 172 of Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Prosecutor, ASP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that they committed the offences on February 26 at about 4:00 pp.m at Road 7, Mowowole Estate, Oreta Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The duo attacked the complainant, Adeyemi Morenikeji, at her home for marrying the former husband of one of them.
Agoi said the first defendant and accomplice perpetrated the act, five years after she left the house following a divorce.
The Magistrate, R. A. Onilogbo admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each, odering them to produce two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until March 31.
