The Federal Government was at the weekend warned against conspiring to assassinate the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
Nyesom Woke, governor of Rivers State, gave the warning in a statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, his Special Assistant on media, stressing that might emerge should anything happen to his Benue State counterpart.
Some gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia had attacked Governor Ortom in his farm along Gboko-Makurdi road on Saturday afternoon.
Ortom while briefing journalists at the Benue Peoples House after the incident said he was inspecting his farm when the militia attacked.
According to Wike, the Federal Government must be held responsible if Ortom is killed.
