In a bid to enhance its copyright compliance footprint on the African continent, music licensing company, Gresham Rights Management (GRM) has launched “Gresham Rights Management West Africa” alongside Nigerian-based entertainment agency, PurpleBlue Entertainment (PBE).
GRM was launched in 2019 to assist music copyright owners and creators in unlocking greater value for their songs through innovative and direct licensing methods for broadcast, public performance, mechanical reproductions and neighbouring rights.
Representing the interests of authors, composers and publishers, GRM principal rightsholders will now have extra music muscle on the ground in Niger, Benin, Nigeria, Ghana and Togo, through GRM’s collaboration with PBE.
Founded by Dr. Chinedu Chukwuji, former CEO of Copyright Soceity of Nigeris (COSON), PBE is based in Lagos, Nigeria and will oversee rights matters for GRM in West Africa. The new venture will be trading as “Gresham Rights Management West Africa”.
PBE will also tap into the Gresham Music Group’s global infrastructure for sound recordings and musical works, enhancing its African produced repertoire and participating in the group’s distribution, marketing, promotion and collections activities, ensuring that African creators participate in the global music economy with the best available tools.
