The organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) have come under strong criticism for what a Nollywood actor described as neglect of actors in the South-East.
The star-crammed 8th edition of the AMVCA was held over the weekend at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Such actors as Funke Akindele, Stan Nze, Ramsey Nouah, Broda Shaggi as well as Osas Ighodaro won awards at the ceremony.
But there were also concerns expressed on social media that flicks produced in Asaba and the eastern parts of the country were neglected.
Reacting to the development, Stanley Nweze, Nollywood actor, in a post on his Instagram stories, made a case for Enugu and Asaba actors who are not being recognised at the award ceremony.
He held that the AMVCA should be changed to Lasgidi/Lagos awards since actors in other states were not recognised.
Read his post: “AMVCA ‘African Magic Viewers Choice Awards’ sincerely should be changed to Lasgidi/Lagos awards or something else because there are a lot of good actors and crew members in other areas under the same Nollywood working really hard that you all don’t recognise”.
