Peter Obi (L) and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed
Nigerians desperate resolve to take back their country from the brink of collapse, has received the most inspiring boost in the now settled Labour Party’s wholesome Presidential ticket. Infact, with the cheery unveiling of Sen.Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate, H.E Peter Gregory Obi, has again spoken faithfully that Nigeria’s rescue is indeed a mission “POssible and a vision fundamentally YUSful”.
Sharing this observation is Hon. Uche Okonkwo, the Labour Party candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, who has maintained a relentless advocacy that “a Nigeria held down so miserably by her unforgiving transaction leaders, is a nation only her youths can rescue and liberate”. I’m so happy that our collective awareness efforts has finally caught fire, in this pure blaze of awakening, to say loudly that enough is enough, for those that have ruined our country and yet refused to go away. For me in particular, this is like an answered prayer because the energy and enthusiasm of the youths are running on free available ‘fuel of freedom’ as citizens, that won’t need their festering subsidy of corruption to keep momentum.
Hon. Uche Okonkwo who was popularly mobilised and effectively adopted by Youth Expressions for Service (YES), a grassroot leadership initiative for Change and Impact, to run for the Federal House of their Constituency come 2023 elections, emphasised that such generosity of thoughts by his people, was a welcome impetus to leverage farther his youth empowerment outreach given the dedication and traction my Foundation, Let’s Get Empowered Today has so far recorded.
Returning to the ticket of Peter Obi and Sen. Baba Ahmed, the private sector industry captain, as Executive Director of the Topwide Group, enthused, “I’m a confident optimist that with the torch of knowledge, capacity and passion so ably balanced upon this two greats, Nigerians will for once in my living memory, have a taste of leadership from Aso Rock, ever cooked on truth, trust, hope and faith, towards the critical turn around that is now urgent and compulsory for Nigeria”. Already, their melodious ringing tunes of “moving this country from consumption to production” to replacing those who have “privatised our profits but socialised our losses” has set off a national movement of “YUSful OBIdients”, ready to take back a country so blessed yet so tragically mismanaged.
You can bet me on it, that in Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Yusuf Baba Ahmed, the knowledge kit for the economic surgery we need to recover from brazen political impunities is so persuasively apparent, such that other aggrieved alternatives has become simply unnecessary.
Reacting to concerns about the hail of attacks from opposition quarters to the surging popularity of his Party’s Presidential candidate, he remarked, that such an unfortunate frenzy at spraying muds, rather than expanding debates on issues as Obi does, and searching for knowledge as his norm, is a real alarm that Nigerians should be at alert, to defend their choices if their wishes must prevail in our increasingly dollar harassed democracy.
Said he: “It’s the sad reality of power politics, where like in the wild ecosystem, harmless breeds are always stalked by entitled hyenas and vicious cats to feed fat, even if the entire herds must perish. I therefore call on every youth, including all adult converts united by the passion for a clean brake from a rotten past and present, to embrace eternal vigilance, because the long night before a new dawn has just begun”.
