An alleged arrest and detintion of a civilian identified as Mr. Chiemeka Chukwujekpe by men believed to be soldiers of the Nigeria Army has thrown members of his family into anxiety.
Wife of the victim, Mrs. Chiamaka Chukwujekpe, who narrated the incident, Said that her husband was on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at about 10:00 am, taken away by officers of the Nigerian Army from Abule-Egba area of Lagos.
She further stated that neighbours were later informed by the officers that Mr. Chukwujekpe had been taken into custody at the Provost Marshal’s office, in the Military cantonment, Ikeja.
Mrs. Chukwujekpe, further lamented that all efforts to see her husband and possibly know the reason for his arrest since the the incident had proved abortive.
She said that she met she met two officers at the Provost office who confirmed that Mr. Chukwujekpe was in custody of the office. However, one of them, tagged Eze L. said that seeing her husband could only be possible if there was clearance from 81 Div. Headquarters, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos.

HUMBLE PLEA/REQUEST ON BE HALF OF THE CHUKWUJEKPE FAMILY, FOR A GRANT OF ACCESS TO VISIST AND SEE THEIR SON, BROTHER, HUSBAND AND FATHER, MR. CHINAZA CHUKWUJEKPE, WHO WAS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY SINCE THE TH DAY OF AUGUST, 2022, BY OFFICERS OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY.

“That MR. CHINAZA CHUKWUJEKPE, on the 8th day of August, 2022, at about the hour of 10:00 (am), around Abule – Egba, Lagos, was taken by officers of the Nigerian Army who later informed concerned neighbors that the said MR. CHINAZA CHUKWUJEKPE had been taken into Custody at the office of the Provost Marshall, Ikeja Military Cantonment.
“That all efforts to trace him and know the reason he was taken proved abortive. Meanwhile, MR CHIEMEKA CHUKWUJEKPE, (Brother) MRS. CHIAMAKA CHUKWUJEKPE, (Wife) visited the office of the Provost Marshall, Ikeja Military Cantonment on the 10th day of August, 2022 for facts finding where they about the where about and his wellbeing, where they met two officers on duty one of whom is tagged EZE L. who confirmed that the said CHINAZA CHUKWUJEKPE was in custody, but could not be accessed by the visitors unless they procured clearance from Military Headquarters, 81 Div. Bonny Camp, Lagos Island, Lagos.
“That ever since then, the Chukwujekpe Family have left no stone unturned in quest to gain access to and see their son, brother, husband and Father, but all efforts again, proved abortive.
“Sir, without prejudice to your discretion in matters of criminal investigation, it is the humble plea and request of the Family of Chukwujekpe, that you use your good office indulge them with access to CHINAZA CHUKWUJEKPE to at least see and ascertain his state of being.
