Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
Detained Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), is in deteriorating health condition, having been diagnosed with gastrointestinal disorder, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, his counsel, has revealed.
Ejiofor in a statement on Monday, disclosed that the development followed a persistent heart-burn earlier experienced by the secessionist.
The lawyer said despite the order of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja that Kanu should be given serious medical attention, the Department of State Services, (DSS) had been acting to the contrary.
He raised alarm shortly after visiting the IPoB leader at the DSS Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
Said Ejiofor: “Presently, Onyendu is experiencing gastrointestinal disorder, which requires regular in-take of antacid and other availing medical solutions, following persistent heart-burn.
“Unfortunately, the DSS have denied him the least of the prescribed pain killer tablets that could provide momentary relief.
“Following this development, our erudite lead counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has immediately swung into action to ensure immediate end to this maltreatment and impunity”.
