New York City will certainly be in for a swell time come March 4, 2023, the day slated for the grand celebration of the amazing Lolo Dorothy Chinaka Akujuo’s 80th birthday.

The birthdate bash for the Nigerian teacher, author, journalist, unstoppable intellectual, creative personality, and retired Professor of English, promises to be a show of all shows.

One of the highlights of the show will be a huge live performance of AJ Warrior, the look-alike son of the great Sir (Dr) Warrior Obinna, the unforgettable Igbo philosopher singer of the Oriental Brothers fame, who with his many memorable songs lifted the spirits of millions of Igbo people after the Nigeria/Biafra War.

Ajuzieogu Obinna, better known as AJ Warrior, whose talent replicates that of his father, Christogonus Ezebuiro Obinna aka Dr (Sir) Warrior who passed on in 1999, has promised that the show in New York will be “gbamistic” and that the guests will rock like never before to the original and unadulterated Igbo Highlife Music of the musical prophet, Sir Warrior.

The event will also bring the cream of Nollywood to New York for the International Premiere of the epic movie, “My Birthright”, a story of the big clash of traditional Igbo culture faced with emerging European values in the 1960s. This story told by Lolo Dorothy Akujuo herself, has been shot in living colour by the new wiz boy of Nollywood movie making, Damola Akapo, the latest best graduating student of the Multi Choice Talent Factory (MFT), the high-powered joint project with Pan African University. Damola Akapo is supported in the making of “My Birthright” by legends of the Nigerian movie industry, such as the boundless broadcaster, actor and movie maker, Patrick Doyle, who is the movie’s Supervising Producer.

The movie will be shown, for the first time, to the live audience at the big banquet in New York City on March 4.

While in New York, Damola Akapo will spend significant time at the New York Film Academy on a mission fully paid for by Multichoice which as Africa’s No 1 broadcast content producer, is providing the platform to grow a new crop of world class film makers, thoroughly schooled in the art of film making.
