Hon. Philip Shaibu, Edo State deputy gov.
John Dewey, an American, was a strong proponent of democracy, who believed democracy to be the best means for meeting the needs of the public. In his book, The Public and Its Problems (1927), Dewey tried to reconcile civic engagement in American democracy with the depersonalising forces of industrialism and capitalism.
While Dewey recognises the importance of policy experts, he also argues that popular participation in government is necessary to uncover the problems we collectively face because experts will be too removed from the public to clearly see the problems people confront.
Above is exactly the need for us to collectively participate actively in the electoral process, and ensure that the right candidates are nominated, and Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) is fortified with the instrumentality of government, which will afford him the opportunity of putting smiles on our faces through quality leadership and purposeful governance.
There is absolutely no gainsaying the glaring fact that the good people of Edo State are now wiser, more exposed, and politically inclined, with regards to enthroning the right candidates and or party during elections. The inglorious reign of the Edo State dictator (Sanni Abacha) at all levels, particularly in well over seven years of a non performing leader has opened our eyes to knowing many lacuna in our state.
It is verifiably on records that the inglorious Edo State Sanni Abacha and his cronies have vehemently refused to deliver on his campaign promises, which is indeed enough for us as a people, to have a moment of sober reflection and unanimously prevent them from coming near the corridors of power anymore with his Lagos allies.
There has been total absence of any relic of democratic dividends in Edo State, in spite of the bogus amount of funds earmarked and approved for projects and federal allocations exept continuous MOUs without faces, which we only hear and read on the pages of the national dailies, with no commensurate and tangible project on ground, and the time has come for us to weed them out to face their Lagos lifestyle.
We must as a matter of rationality and for the sake of posterity, unanimously nominate massively for our amiable and unassuming Philip Shaibu of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) as Governor of Edo State, for our voice to be heard again.
Let us collectively prove to the enemies of our dear state, that we are now wiser, and that never again shall we enthrone a very uncaring, insensitive, and very irresponsible Lagos wagons and their non hibernated candidates.
Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu is your man and homeboy for Edo State Governor.
