The release of the trailer for “Everybody Loves Jenifa“, a highly anticipated film produced by Funke Akindele, was announced on Friday.
The Nollywood actress shared the teaser on Instagram on Friday, disclosing that the film’s premiere in cinemas would be on December 13.
Akindele said “Everybody Loves Jennifer” is a mix of emotions, promising drama, adventure, and thrill.
Wrote Akindele: “Beyond laughter, lies a story. The drama, the adventure, the thrill… all coming soon”.
“Everybody Loves Jenifa” is part of the Jenifa franchise which tells the tale of a naive and funny character of the same name.
The new franchise features such thespians and skit makers as Layi Wasabi, Nancy Isime, Jackie Appiah, Falz, Omowunmi Dada, Chimezie Imo, Patience Ozokwor, and Stan Nze.
The franchise began in 2008 with the first installment and a sequel entitled “Return Of Jenifa” in 2011.
The franchise also spawned spin-offs like “Aiyetoro Town” (2019, 18 episodes) set in Jenifa’s village, and “Jenifa On Lockdown” (2021).
Akindele came to the limelight in 2008 for her movie, “Jenifa”, which gained commercial success.
With a slew of awards and accolades, she has been established as one of the prominent names in Nollywood.
Falz, the Nigerian rapper, in October, described Akindele as the “most hardworking entertainer in Nigeria”.
He also expressed admiration for her dedication and work ethic.
