Thugs, in an attempt to disrupt a pre-hearing session on the disputed Edo State September 21 gubernatorial polls results, Monday attacked the State High Court in Benin.

The election, in which Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner, is being challenged by seven opposition parties.
Opposition supporters outside the court were attacked by unidentified individuals. Security agents quickly intervened, blocking the court entrance and setting up a roadblock nearby.
Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes to defeat PDP’s Asue Ighodalo, who received 247,274 votes. Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata finished third with 22,763 votes. The APC won 11 out of 18 Local Government Areas, while the PDP took seven.
