The Way Of Winning

Exodus 12:1-12

The Lord God Almighty always has a unique way of doing things. He uses various methods to demonstrate His power and sovereignty, showing us that He is the one and only true God. As we reflect on the Israelites’ deliverance from Egypt, we see God’s faithfulness and provision on full display.

Consider how God instructed the Israelites to prepare for their departure from Egypt. He told them to take a lamb without blemish, symbolising the perfect sacrifice that would come through Jesus Christ (Exodus 12:5-6, John 1:29). By following God’s instructions, they experienced His protection and deliverance.

The Bible says, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen” (2 Timothy 4:18). This promise reminds us that God is our Rock, our Refuge, and our Redeemer (Psalm 18:2, 46:1).

As the Israelites prepared to leave Egypt, they were instructed to eat the lamb with unleavened bread and bitter herbs (Exodus 12:8). This meal symbolised their separation from the world and their commitment to following God’s ways.

The Israelites’ experience in the wilderness teaches us about the importance of obedience, faith, and perseverance. Despite their mistakes and rebellions, God remained faithful and guided them to the Promised Land. As the Bible says, “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9).

However, the Israelites’ journey was not without its challenges. They faced numerous trials and temptations, and many of them failed to trust God’s promises. As a result, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, until the generation that had rebelled against God had passed away.

As we reflect on this story, we are reminded that God’s ways are not our ways, but His plans are always for our good (Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 8:28). We must learn to trust God’s sovereignty and provision, even when we don’t understand His ways.

As we conclude, remember that God is always working to bring us to a place of victory and triumph. He desires to give us the strength and courage we need to overcome every obstacle and challenge. As the Bible says, “Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him” (2 Corinthians 2:14).

Will you answer His call today? Will you trust in His sovereignty and provision? Come to Jesus, who invites you to rest in Him (Matthew 11:28-30).
