Kaduna: Traditional Leader Slumps, Dies @ Event

Kaduna State on Thursday witnessed a tragic incident as the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Rilwan Pate, collapsed and died while attending an event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

An eyewitness disclosed that Pate, who also served as a Council Member of the Emirate and Councillor for Health-Related Matters, suddenly slumped during the event. He was immediately rushed to Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan, Zaria, where he was confirmed dead.

The Zazzau Emirate Council confirmed his demise in a statement released by its Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Kwarbai.

Read the statement: “It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate”.

The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, also expressed his condolences to the family, describing the death as “the will of Allah”.

Said he: “Death is inevitable and can come whenever Allah destined”.

He further described the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau as a hardworking, dedicated, and religious leader whose absence would be deeply felt.

Later that evening, his remains were buried at Rimin Dodo in accordance with Islamic rites.
