The tragic death of five students in a trailer accident at Felele on Monday, February 17, 2025, has prompted the indefinite shut-down of the Federal University Lokoja.
Students have been protesting since the accident, by blocking the university gates, despite the state government and university management’s effort to restore calm.
Due to the growing unrest and recommendations from state security agencies, the Vice-Chancellor, after consulting with the management, decided on behalf of the Senate to close both campuses indefinitely.
Students were ordered to leave the university premises by noon on Thursday, February 20, 2025. This announcement was made in a notice signed by Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council.
