In response to a distress call, officers from the Okehi Division quickly arrived at the scene.

Investigations are still ongoing as authorities continue efforts to uncover the motive behind the attack and find those responsible.

In the meantime, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, confirmed that her family house was attacked by armed men.

In a statement released on Thursday through her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, the Senator condemned the attack on her family residence located in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State. The statement described the attack as a deliberate move likely connected to her outspoken criticism of Senate president, Godswill Akpabio.

Offered the statement: “We strongly condemn the attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home on April 15. The armed men, apparently thinking the Senator was present, vandalised windows at her grandfather’s house. Fortunately, security officers responded quickly and stopped the intruders”.

It added that the assault appeared to be a response to Senator Natasha’s recent public accusation of sexual harassment against Senate President, Akpabio. The Senator’s team called on the Inspector General of Police to restore her security team without delay.

Said Akpotie Uduaghan while narrating the incident: “Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to our hometown, Ihima, for project inspections related to development work I initiated. The attackers wrongly assumed I was in town and struck that night. Luckily, the civil defence and community members acted swiftly and drove them away. The matter was reported to the police, and no injuries were recorded”.

Her media aide urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting the Senator’s fight for justice. He stressed that her efforts to stand for truth and serve her constituents should not attract violence or threats.
