The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos, Church of Nigeria (Anglian Communion), Rt. Revd Ifedola Gabriel Okupevi has asked Nigerians to be patient with the government, and pray for their leaders so that God will use them to solve all the problems confronting the Nigerian nation.
Okupevi who gave the charge while delivering his Easter message on Sunday at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, said most of the problems facing the country were human-made.
Said he: ” My charge to Nigerians is that they should be patient with the government and pray for them. Our prayer is that God will use them to solve all these problems. Many of our problems are human-made, like corruption, insecurity and others. And the insecurity thing is becoming too high.
“So, we continue to pray for the President and our Governors and National Assembly members. And at the same time, all of us should exercise patience and pray on it”.
Said he on the lesson of Easter: “Yes, Jesus came to save. He came in humility. It is because of the love that He has for mankind, that’s why He has come to save us. So, Nigerians should love each other and at the same time, we should be able to humble ourselves. We should be patient. We should at the same time be meek and gentle”.
The Bishop assured Nigerians that there is light at the end of the tunnel, adding that they should cling on the hope that Jesus Christ died for humanity and lives forever.
Said he: “The hope is that Christ came, and died for humanity. And He lives forever. And so, there is hope”.
Noted the clergyman on those who are most affected by insecurity in the country: “We pray that the good Lord will stay by the family members and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. Because it is not easy to bear the loss, especially in gruesome murders, killings and destruction of homes of people. We pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will stay by them”.
